Sweating, which is a physiological event we encounter in spring, especially in summer when the heat starts to rise, is a normal condition and does not disturb the person much. However, excessive sweating is a problem that adversely affects one’s daily and social activities and makes life difficult. What does hyperhidrosis mean?
Sweating may be caused by emotional reasons such as sudden changes of emotion, but it can often cause some physiological problems. Sweating is a problem that can be seen during the day, but it is mostly related to night sweats. This type of sweats is quite disturbing in terms of the person and sleep quality.
The other one of the most irritating subjects is the smell of sweat. Social life is a very difficult situation. It turns a person into a troubled mood in society. In addition to this mental disorder, the growth of bacteria also becomes easier.
WHAT IS OVERPROOFING (HYPERHYDROZ)?
Sweating is a physiological response of our body to heat to regulate body temperature. It is called hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). It is usually caused by excessive operation of the sweat glands in the armpits, palms or soles. There are two types of sweating in medical terms. First, it is the Essential perspiration, which means unknown sweating. Essential perspiration is caused by factors such as nervous causes, stress, excessive excitement, excessive emotionality. The second is secondary sweating. There is an underlying reason. Hormone diseases are the most common causes of excessive sweating.
WHY WHAT IS OVER PREVENTION?
– Excessive operation of the thyroid gland
– Excessive operation of the sympathetic nervous system
– Excess weight
– Side effect of the drugs used
– Air temperature
– HIV / AIDS disease
Before starting the treatment, the problem causing excessive sweating should be determined. Thus, if the disease develops due to an underlying disease, this disease is treated. If the cause of excessive sweating cannot be detected, it is thought to be a congenital problem and treatment is done accordingly. Drug therapy and psychotherapy are very effective methods for excessive sweating. There is also a form of treatment with high success rate called iontophoresis. In a small water bath, the patient’s hands and feet are given electric current. This current is quite low. One application may not be enough, but as the number of sessions increases, it appears to be quite effective in improving the disease.
Surgical treatment is a preferred method for excessive sweating on the hands and face. Endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy is performed by chest and cardiovascular surgeons especially in hand and armpit sweats. This surgical operation, which provides a permanent solution, is not recycled. The purpose of this treatment is to cut or remove the sympathetic nerves that cause excessive sweating. Sometimes the sympathetic chain and branches can be clamped with clips or burned with cautery. Because these nerves do not have any function other than sweating, surgery does not have the effects of paralysis, loss of sensation, reflex reduction. It is a very effective treatment for hands. It should not be forgotten that other methods should be applied and success should not be achieved in order for surgical treatment to be the only option. It is not the first method of treatment.
